Nat The Librarian

My camera is fixed so I took a walk!

My camera has been broken since New Years Eve. Thankfully it was still under warranty and Canon fixed it for free.

I took a nice walk Saturday morning to Manhattan, going over the Manhattan bridge. It was pretty cold out, the sun was shining and the sky was a ridiculous color blue. I actually ended up buying blue nail polish that day. I think it was because the color of the sky was stuck in my head.

A joke for me.

A chicken walks into the library. It goes up to the circulation desk and says: “book, bok, bok, boook”. The librarian hands the chicken a book. It tucks it under his wing and runs out. A while later, the chicken runs back in, throws the first book into the return bin and goes back to the librarian saying: “book, bok, bok, bok, boook”. Again the librarian gives it a book, and the chicken runs out. The librarian shakes her head. Within a few minutes, the chicken is back, returns the book and starts all over again: “boook, book, bok bok boook”. The librarian gives him yet a third book, but this time as the chicken is running out the door, she follows it. The chicken runs down the street, through the park and down to the riverbank. There, sitting on a lily pad is a big, green frog. The chicken holds up the book and shows it to the frog, saying: “Book, bok, bok, boook”. The frog blinks, and croaks: “read-it, read-it, read-it”.

My Mander

December 12, 2008 · 1 Comment

I love this girl, and almost every single day I wish we lived in the same city so we could go eat a new food  together (or an old food) or drink a new beer, or just read by each other drinking tea, or watch embarrassing movies that no one else will watch with us, or make fun of some stupid hipster and know the other won’t call us mean but will agree, or just admire the skyline during a long walk. Seriously, almost every single day.

I have been crazy busy finishing up the semester. I have barely had time to breath. Plus, Thanksgiving and a quick trip to L.A. have eaten up even more of my time. As soon as I have a second, I’ll post some good stuff from those trips!

This will be me after 9pm next Thursday!

..but my dear friend Alex is smuggling a carton back from Bolivia.  They really are the only ones I like.

And now trying to get ahold of them is always a creative challenge.

I want it to be clear…

what the political bent of this blog will be. I’ve come across so many nasty comments on other blogs I read, posted after the blogger expressed their happiness over the results of last Tuesdays historic election. I don’t want anyone to be confused.

This is the first time I’m “politically” proud to be an American. The first time I don’t want to run away to Canada or Sweden. I want to stay and help him.

Image created by Shepherd Fairey, obviously.

I miss her a lot and I wish she would come visit. I know she would love NYC.  She is the sweetest 16 year old I’ve ever met.
